Private cannabis clubs: access and privacy

Private cannabis clubs in Barcelona are often described with a single word that leaves several questions unanswered. At Élevé, private has practical consequences for access, companions and consideration inside the lounge. It is not a promise of anonymity.

At a glance

  • Membership and entry belong to the individual.
  • Unregistered companions cannot enter the members' lounge as guests.
  • Do not record other members or their conversations.
  • Read the privacy notice for data handling; do not infer it from the word private.

Personal access

Staff need to know who is entering and may request ID on a return visit. Knowing a member, accompanying a group or having been inside before does not bypass a current membership check. Do not lend credentials or ask another person to attend in your name.

If a friend wants to join you, they need their own enquiry and accepted registration. Arrange this separately before travel rather than presenting it as a guest request at the door. The membership guide explains expiry and returning after a break.

Discretion in a shared room

The lounge is shared with other members. A quiet booth does not make a conversation confidential, and staff cannot promise that no one will overhear. Save highly personal discussions for an appropriate setting and avoid repeating someone else's private conversation.

No photographs of other members are allowed. Consider reflections, screen backgrounds and audio as well as the obvious person in front of a camera. For practical examples, read etiquette in the lounge.

Personal information and enquiries

Use the club's own form and contact routes, and provide only the information requested for that stage. Do not include passport scans or someone else's private details in an unsolicited message. Bring your original ID for the in-person check instead.

The privacy notice is the place to read the stated data-handling arrangements. This guide does not add promises about retention, deletion, confidentiality or security that are absent from that notice. Send a specific question through contact if you need clarification.

Private is not a legal conclusion

The word describes access arrangements here; it does not establish blanket permission for activities or remove the need for legal advice. Our association explainer discusses that distinction and provides a primary-source note.

If another person's behaviour makes you uncomfortable, ask reception for help discreetly. Respecting privacy is an everyday responsibility shared by the people in the room, not only a label on the door.
